A Christmas message from the moon!
50 years ago in the year 1968 on Christmas Eve the world was glued to its TV screens. Many watched in black & white but it didn't matter the wonder was the message that was being beamed in from the far side of the moon where Apollo 8 and it's crew were orbiting the moon and were the first people to see planet earth it all it's beauty! What do you think was their message? We are amazed at what the BIG BANG has produced! We are amazed at how evolution has produced such a beautiful planet. The earthrise is just a reminder of the wonder of science! No none of these things came to their minds. In fact the world was treated to these words from Outer Space... In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness. And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day. And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters. And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so. And God called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day. And God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so. And God called the dry land Earth; and the gathering together of the waters called he Seas: and God saw that it was good. In fact these words came from farther than outer space! They came from Heaven - the first ten verses of the first chapter in the Bible. I wonder as you come to Christmas Eve 2018 are you swimming in the hopeless ugly darkness of evolution and giving credit and glory to something that could never produce what you and I call the universe. Telescope after telescope has been defeated in trying to measure it's vastness! The crew of Apollo 8 recognised that deep within every human soul is a consciousness of the Creator God. We have rebelled against Him and want to go our own way. God calls that sin. But despite our rebellion God came into this world - Jesus Christ to pay the penalty for our sins so that we could be forgiven. What a sad world we live in - ruined by our greed and selfishness that refuses to believe that there is nothing more than us in this world and that we can sort it all! Get a look at the world through the eyes of Almighty God and understand why His beloved Son gave Himself upon the cross! The Son of God He loved me and gave Himself for me. Today if you repent and place your faith in Jesus Christ God will forgive your sins and you will appreciate what the crew of Apollo 8 appreciated - The glory of God. Remember God is in the beginning and in the end. The question is are we ready to meet Him! |
