First of all
The Bible tells us,
‘Christ died for our sins.’
1 Corinthians 15 verse 3.
Why?
Because God sees all humanity in the same sinful condition;
“there is no difference: for all have sinned.”
Romans 3 verse 23.
So, God’s verdict on the whole world is
“guilty” Romans 3 verse 19
To sin means to disobey God who is holy and just. God cannot ignore our sin, even as a judge cannot overlook a crime. Sin not only separates a person from God now, but it will ultimately lead to eternal hell, because God the righteous judge must punish sin. Death is not a way out of our suffering in this life but the doorway to a meeting with God.
It is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment. Hebrews 9 verse 27.
But...
the Gospel message reveals,
‘God commendeth His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.’ Romans 5 verse 8.
God loves you and wants to save you from your sins but the problem with many people is they don’t want to be saved because they are too busy bingeing on the short-lived pleasures of sin, partying and accumulating wealth forgetting one day it will all end. Then judgment! Are you ready to meet God? Are you saved?
What must I do to be saved?
This great question has been asked by many, but the Bible tells us we can do nothing to save ourselves. Salvation is on God’s terms, not ours. We cannot impress God or offer Him anything to earn salvation, because everything we do is stained by sin. Our very best deeds can never meet God’s holy standard. We may not like to admit it but we need a Saviour. He is Jesus Christ the sinless Son of God, who offered one perfect sacrifice to provide salvation through His death on the cross. He rose from the dead the third day, a living Saviour! Religion mistakenly asks us to trust in what we can do to be saved but the Gospel commands us to repent from our sin and rely on Jesus Christ alone for salvation. Eternal life is not obtained through baptism, prayers or attending a church, but is the free gift of God received when you place your faith in Jesus Christ.
Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved, Acts 16 verse 31
