Who is He?
The golden words “My Saviour,” were first spoken by Mary the mother of Jesus. She said,
My spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour, Luke 1v47
The child she brought into the world one starry night in Bethlehem was more than ‘her firstborn son.’ He was the Son of God. His name ‘Jesus’ means, ‘Salvation of God,’ but when a person places their personal faith in Jesus Christ alone for salvation He becomes ‘my Saviour.’ The Gospels, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John are eyewitness accounts of people who knew my Saviour on planet earth. Our calendar is uniquely divided by His birth, BC/AD. There are four reasons why ‘My Saviour’ is unique and why my Saviour can be your Saviour too.
My Saviour is different to me
Matthew tells me my Saviour was conceived of the Holy Spirit which means He is sinless. You or I could never claim to be sinless for the bible says we were conceived in sin, (Psalm 51v5). There is no difference ‘for all have sinned,’ against God who is Holy. We may have committed different sins but we are all guilty in God’s eyes. But my Saviour is different. He lived on the planet He made for 33 years and never had one immoral thought. He was never jealous or lost His temper. It was impossible for Him to sin. That is why He was the only sacrifice acceptable to God to take away your sin. As Mary looked into the face of her babe at Bethlehem she looked into the face of the Son of God, ‘My Saviour.’
God promised in His word,
He shall save His people from their sins, Matthew 1v21
My Saviour came for me
Mark tells me why my Saviour came into the world. (Mark 10v45). He came to give His life a ransom for many. It was not rags to riches but my Saviour left the wealth of Heaven for the rags of a sinful, dirty world. God’s son became a real man so that He could die a real death and pay the price of sin.
What made Him come? John tells us:
God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, John 3v16
My Saviour - died for me
Luke tells me Jesus Christ is my Saviour NOT because He lived in this world but because He died for this world. ‘Christ died for our sins,’ means Christ died for me. One day in AD33 Luke says ‘there they crucified Him.’ The world nailed ‘My Saviour’ to a cross. Jesus Christ didn’t resist because he loved you and me so much. Luke tells me on the cross He prayed for His enemies, “Father forgive them,” It is only God who can forgive sins. But Jesus Christ rose the third day, He is alive!
The gift of God is eternal life, Rom 6v23
My Saviour - is coming for me
John in his Gospel records the words of My Saviour, “I will come again.” (John 14v3). I have never seen my Saviour but I am looking forward to thanking Him in person for dying for a sinner like me. The bible said He would come the first time to Bethlehem and He did. ‘My Saviour’ said He is coming again and He will. Make sure you are ready...
